Sevilla linked with a move for Hakim Ziyech
It’s no secret that Sevilla are interested in Ajax’s attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech. But who isn’t?
The 26-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Morocco international has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2021.
Ziyech made 130 appearances across all competitions for Ajax, scoring 40 goals and supplying 61 assists in return.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 26-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
His record for Morocco is also impressive. Ziyech has scored 12 goals in 23 matches for Morocco at senior level. His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Sevilla.
Monchi wants to sign a new attacking midfielder and Hakim Ziyech is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
Hakim Ziyech would provide a good variety to Sevilla’s attack.
According to Football Espana (via De Telegraaf), “Sevilla want to sign Ajax attacking midfielder Hakim Ziyech but would have to pay his €30m valuation by the club. The 26-year-old starred for the club on their way to last season’s Eredivisie title and the semi-finals of the Champions League, netting 21 goals across all competitions. He is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations representing Morocco and is yet to make a decision over his future, but De Telegraaf claim Sevilla hold an interest. It is claimed that under sporting director Monchi, the Andalusian club monitored the player and considered paying €6m in the summer of 2015. The following year, the Twente player joined Ajax in an €11m deal and he has since appeared in the Europa League final and this season, became a Champions League semi-finalist. The forward-thinking player is now once again being monitored by Monchi – who returned to Sevilla in April, although a deal may still be a long way off.”

Ajax are not in a position where they need to sell and would like to keep hold of the attacking midfielder, but right offer may force the club to consider a deal.
Signing the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Monchi.
Will Hakim Ziyech be a Sevilla player soon? Only time will tell.
