Roma will look to sign Bernard
Everton midfielder Bernard is reportedly nearing a move to Roma.
The latest reports in England and Italy suggest that Roma will look to sign Everton winger Bernard.
The Brazil international joined Everton from Shakhtar Donetsk on a free transfer in August 2018. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.
In 74 appearances for Everton, Bernard has managed to score 7 goals, and create 7 goals for his teammates.
Bernard has also left his mark at the international stage after netting one goal in 14 senior appearances for the Brazil national team.
The Everton manager does not see him in his plans and would be open to letting him leave.
By the club’s own admission, Bernard is Roma’s number one transfer target.
Paulo Fonseca is a long term admirer of Bernard and believes he can get the most out of the Brazil international.
AS Roma are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The Brazil international will offer the Roma boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.
According to the report, “Everton midfielder Bernard is a target for AS Roma. Gazzetta dello Sport says Bernard is being linked with Roma ahead of the January transfer window. The Everton winger is on Roma’s radar as they look to increase their attacking options. The Brazilian, who has made just eight appearances for Everton this season, has already worked under Roma manager Paulo Fonseca at Shakhtar Donetsk.”

If Roma can agree on a fee with Everton, the deal should be easy to complete.
The Toffees are preparing to sell their winger should they receive right offer for him.
Good signing for Roma?
Bernard stands as an excellent option for Roma.
A move away from Everton will not be only the best move for Bernard, but also for the club.
Signing the winger could be a good decision as he could improve Fonseca’s midfield and attacking options.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Roma.
It will be interesting to see if Roma are willing to pay the asking price for Bernard.
