The upcoming winter will see Roma improving their attacking department.

According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Roma are tipped to sign Bodo/Glimt striker Erik Botheim.

The 21-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Norway international joined Bodo/Glimt from Rosenborg on a free transfer in February 2021. His contract expires in the winter of 2022.

The striker has featured in 40 matches this term, netting 19 goals and providing 9 assists in all competitions.

The 21-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Norway. Botheim has represented Norway at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 52 caps and scoring 14 goals.

His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.

José Mourinho is looking to shore up his attacking options and Bodo/Glimt’s Erik Botheim happens to be a target. The report claims that Roma manager has extensively scouted Botheim and is considering a move for the striker.

The Italian giants are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.

The Norway international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Mourinho’s side.

According to the report, “Roma have reportedly contacted Bodo/Glimt regarding striker Erik Botheim, who impressed in both legs between the two teams in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Norwegian broadcaster TV2 reports Jose Mourinho has shown interest in the Norwegian striker and the Giallorossi have reportedly contacted the agent. Roma suffered an embarrassing 6-1 defeat to the Norwegians in Bodo, before a 2-2 draw in Rome two weeks later. Botheim contributed three goals and three assists over the two games and has ended up on the wish list in the Italian capital, with Lazio also mentioned as possible suitors for the 21-year-old.”

Roma have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Norway international.

Bodo/Glimt would be wise to keep the Norway international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Lazio are apparently trailing their local rivals Roma in the pursuit of Bodo/Glimt striker.

Erik Botheim ideal fit for Roma?

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

The 21-year-old is certainly a player that would strengthen the current Roma squad and would be a good buy in the winter transfer window.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Roma.

How strong that interest is and whether Roma will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
