It’s no secret that Roma are interested in Nice’s striker Mario Balotelli. But who isn’t?
According to a report from Calciomercato, Roma are leading the race for Nice striker Mario Balotelli.
The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Italy international joined Nice from Liverpool on a free transfer in August 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2018.
Since his arrival from Liverpool, Balotelli has scored 39 goals and provided two assists in 60 games for Nice, including 22 goals and one assist in 32 games in all competitions this season.
The Italy international has been in outstanding form this season.
Mario Balotelli has represented Italy at Under-21 level, winning 15 caps and scoring five goals, before making his senior international debut in August 2010. As a member of Italy national football team, Balotelli won 33 caps and he scored 13 goals.
The Italy international has impressed in Ligue 1 this season and is starting to attract the interest of bigger clubs.
Adding a striker remains Roma’s top priority this summer and Monchi will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming weeks.
The report claims that Roma sporting director has extensively scouted Mario Balotelli and is considering a move for the striker.
Roma will be desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
According to Calciomercato (via Leggo), “According to the latest reports from Italian newspaper Leggo, there is a strong possibility that Mario Balotelli could leave Ligue 1 side Nice in order to join Roma during this summer’s transfer window. Giallorossi sporting director Monchi is preparing to oversee a mini revolution come the end of the season, having decided against making drastic changes to the playing squad in January. Edin Džeko, who was on the verge of joining Chelsea alongside Emerson Palmieri, will be allowed to leave should an acceptable offer for his services arrive. Indeed, Balotelli is being considered as a potential replacement for the Bosnian striker.”

Mario Balotelli would reportedly be interested in a move this summer, but if Roma do want him, they will have to beat those other interested clubs to his signature.
Whether or not this is the end for Mario Balotelli in Nice remains to be seen. If the move goes through as reported, then it would be a fantastic deal for him.
