Real Madrid linked with surprise move for Roma star Dzeko
Real Madrid could be in for a busy transfer this winter.
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Real Madrid are linked with surprise move for Roma striker Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international was signed by Roma in July 2016 from Manchester City for a fee of 11 million euros. The 32-year-old has a contract until 2020 with the club.
Dzeko has played 154 times for Roma since signing from Manchester City, scoring 80 goals and creating 32 assists in that time.
His record for Bosnia-Herzegovina is also impressive. Dzeko has scored 55 goals in 99 matches for Bosnia-Herzegovina at senior level.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Real Madrid.
The report details that Florentino Pérez feels Real Madrid’s attack currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this winter. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him in Madrid.
The Bosnia-Herzegovina international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker.
According to Football Italia (via AS), “AS maintain the Merengues representatives are at the Estadio de Gran Canaria in Las Palmas to evaluate Dzeko for a potential transfer. They are seeking a centre-forward to bolster their ranks in January, as Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure to Juventus has led to a large drop in the number of goals scored. Roma had already rejected a large offer from Chelsea to sign Dzeko in January this year, but it remains to be seen if he’d be quite so willing to turn down Real Madrid.”
