According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Newcastle United are pushing to sign Bournemouth centre-back Lloyd Kelly.

The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.

The England international was signed by Bournemouth in July 2019 from Bristol City for a fee of 14.8 million euros. He has a contract until 2024 with the club.

Kelly has scored one goal and assisted one more across all competitions this season.

The Newcastle manager has kept an eye on Kelly for the last few months and he is impressed with the centre-back’s performances.

The Magpies are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

The former Bristol City man is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side.

The Saudi Arabian owned club are set to splash the cash in the summer, as they look very unlikely to be relegated from the Premier League. Manager Eddie Howe wants to improve his defence, having failed to sign the likes of Diego Carlos and Sven Botman in the winter window. According to the Express, the Magpies see Kelly as a key target in the summer, regardless of whether Bournemouth are in the Premier League or Championship next term. He can also play at left-back, which will be ideal for their upcoming season, as Howe ensures he can build a team to qualify for Europe through the Premier League.”
