Milan poised to land Sampdoria forward Fabio Quagliarella
AC Milan need to strengthen their attack this winter.
According to a report from Calciomercato, AC Milan are poised to land Sampdoria forward Fabio Quagliarella.
The Italy international joined Sampdoria from Torino for a fee in the region of 2.7 million euros in July 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2019.
Quagliarella has scored 56 goals in 147 games for Sampdoria.
The forward has just 7 months remaining on his contract and Sampdoria may consider a deal in this transfer window to avoid losing him for nothing next summer.
His performances have seen him become the target of many Serie A clubs including AC Milan.
Gennaro Gattuso wants to sign a new forward and Fabio Quagliarella is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
Fabio Quagliarella has the talent to play many roles in attack.
According to Calciomercato, “The player was reportedly close to Milan also during the last summer, given that the former sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli strongly thought about signing the player. Quagliarella is a profile that is also appreciated by Leonardo, as he is able to guarantee goals and assists, as he has always done. This season, adding the two statistics, only Cristiano Ronaldo is doing better than him, with 15 ‘points’ between goals and assists, while the Italian has 13. There was already contacted with the agent of the player, Beppe Bozzo. The idea is hot and if the new CEO Ivan Gazidis gives the backing of the deal, a move could materialize in January, to offer Gattuso an extra offensive choice.”
