Manchester United set to sign ex-Borussia Dortmund centre-back Dan-Axel Zagadou
The defensive department of the Manchester United squad needs quality additions this summer.
According to the football transfer rumours in French media, Manchester United are set to sign Dan-Axel Zagadou.
The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The France international joined Borussia Dortmund from Paris Saint-Germain B on a free transfer in July 2017. His contract at Dortmund expired at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
The centre-back has featured in 22 matches last term in all competitions.
He’s incredibly experienced for a 23-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.
Zagadou has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 51 caps and scoring 7 goals.
His performances last season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Erik ten Hag needs to tighten up his defense and a centre-back would be a welcome addition. Ten Hag is a firm fan of ex-Borussia Dortmund centre-back and Manchester United could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The former Paris Saint-Germain man is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side.
According to the report, “Manchester United are interested in released Borussia Dortmund defender Dan-Axel Zagadou. The 22-year-old Borussia Dortmund defender’s contract ran out in June. Media Foot says United are interested in landing the giant centre-back. Erik ten Hag is supposedly eager to snap up 6ft 6in Zagadou for nothing now his deal has expired. But the Premier League club face competition from Inter Milan, who see the Frenchman as a top priority.”

The Red Devils will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Zagadou to join the club.

If Manchester United and Ten Hag are seriously considering a centre-back, Zagadou could also prove to be a smart option.
Dan-Axel Zagadou has all the skillset required to be a success story at Manchester United. Therefore, it makes sense for Erik ten Hag to step up his attempts to bring the France centre-back to Premier League side.
The 23-year-old could be a good fit for Ten Hag’s United.
If Erik ten Hag sees him as the right man for his side, United should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
