Manchester United and Liverpool tipped to sign Inter midfielder Joao Mario

Manchester United and Liverpool are tipped to sign Inter Milan midfielder Joao Mario, according to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media.

Joao Mario has joined Inter Milan from Sporting CP for a fee in the region of 40 million euros in August 2016. The 24 year-old has a valid contract with Inter Milan until the June 2021.

Since his arrival from Sporting CP, Joao Mario has scored three goals and provided eight assists in 32 games for Inter Milan in all competition this season.

Joao Mario has also represented Portugal at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 82 caps across all age groups and scoring 15 goals. Since October 2014, Mario is a member of Portugal national football team, winning 23 caps.

The 20-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Portugal.

The Portugal international has been in poor form for Inter Milan this season.

Euro Football Rumours understood that Joao Mario representatives are unhappy over the current situation regarding their client and are close to agreeing a parting of the ways at the end of the season with Inter representatives.

Joao Mario has been long term target of José Mourinho and Jurgen Klopp as the managers look to bolster their midfield options for the next season.

How strong that interest is and whether Manchester United and Liverpool will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
