Manchester City will look to sign Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson
Manchester City are known for going under the radar and signing some hidden gems in the transfer window.
The latest reports in England suggest that Manchester City will look to sign Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson.
Fulham spent 2.1 million euros
to sign the United States international from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2020. The 23-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
The left-back has featured in 32 matches this term in all competitions.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in United States.
Robinson has represented United States at Under-18 and Under-23 level, winning 3 caps, before making his senior international debut in May 2019. As a member of United States national football team, Robinson won 11 caps.
He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Fulham this summer and the list of suitors in the United States international continues to grow.
Pep Guardiola is looking to shore up his defensive options and Fulham’s Antonee Robinson happens to be a target.
The report claims that City manager has extensively scouted Robinson and is considering a move for the left-back.
The Citizens will have funds to spend in the market and it will be interesting to see how they approach the summer transfer window.
The left-back heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.
According to the report, “Manchester City are planning a move for Fulham left-back Antonee Robinson. The Sun says boss Pep Guardiola plans to shake up his defence next season and is looking at Robinson as a cover player for his squad following the youngster’s first Premier League campaign. The 23-year-old can also play as a wing-back and his pace and athleticism have caught the eye since he joined from Wigan a year ago. Prem kings City would have to pay out about £10million to sign Robinson but that is within their budget plans as they look to tinker with their options. He would be trading a regular start at Fulham for a place in City’s squad — but if he gets enough game time that would work out for him.”

If City are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.
Fulham are preparing to sell their left-back should they receive a right offer for him.
Good signing for Manchester City?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
The United States international will definitely be a good addition to the Manchester City side, which will be competing in the Champions League next season.
Antonee Robinson has all the skillset required to be a success story at Manchester City. Therefore, it makes sense for Pep Guardiola to step up his attempts to bring the United States left-back to Premier League side.
How strong that interest is and whether City will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
