Manchester City linked with surprise move for Youssoufa Moukoko
Manchester City are reportedly keeping a close eye on many strikers across the Europe.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Manchester City are linked with surprise move for Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko.
The 17-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Germany international joined Borussia Dortmund from FC St. Pauli on a free transfer in July 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.
Moukoko has scored four goals and provided six assists in 18 competitive games for Dortmund this season.
The 17-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Germany. Moukoko has represented Germany at Under-16, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 11 caps and scoring 9 goals.
His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Manchester City are looking to sign a striker and have identified the 17-year-old as potential transfer target. The report claims that City manager has extensively scouted Moukoko and is considering a move for the striker. He is a long term admirer of Moukoko and believes he can get the most out of the Germany international.
The former FC St. Pauli man provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Guardiola’s side.
According to the report, “Manchester City are eyeing Borussia Dortmund striker Youssoufa Moukoko. Football Insider says City is entering the tug-of-war for the 17-year-old’s signature. City’s scouts have been following Moukoko closely, with the teen pondering his future in Dortmund. According to reports, the striker has agreed to join English agency Unique Sports Group when he turns 18 on November 20.”
Euro Football Rumours
Youssoufa Moukoko is a top-class talent and Borussia Dortmund want to keep him at the club.
It would take a huge offer from Manchester City to prise the 17-year-old striker from Dortmund.
Good signing for Manchester City?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
Of course, the 17-year-old is not going to become a regular for Manchester City straightaway, but working under Guardiola would make him a better player.
How strong that interest is and whether Manchester City will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
