Lyon pushing to sign Alexandre Lacazette
Lyon need to strengthen their attack.
According to multiple reports emanating from France, Lyon are pushing to sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette. He has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The France international was signed by Arsenal in July 2017 from Lyon for a fee of 53 million euros. He has a valid contract until June 2020.
The striker banged in 5 goals and provided 4 assists in 22 matches this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.
He is considered to be one of the best strikers in France. Lacazette has also left his mark at the international stage after netting three goals in 16 senior appearances for the France national team.
The striker’s contract at Arsenal is about to expire and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Lyon showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.
Peter Bosz wants to sign a new striker and Lacazette is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long-term target of Lyon and could be a decent addition for Bosz’s side.
The French giants are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
The 30-year-old provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Bosz’s side.
According to the report, “Olympique Lyon are ready to push to re-sign Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette at the end of the season. The Ligue 1 side sold the forward to the Gunners in a £53million move in the summer of 2017, and the Frenchman has gone on to score 70 goals in 192 appearances at Emirates Stadium. L’Equipe says Lyon tried to take advantage of his deal entering its final few months by reaching out to his entourage about a potential move back to the Groupama Stadium in January. However, a January deal was deemed impossible given that he is now Arsenal’s main centre-forward and the player who wears the armband in the wake of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang being frozen out and his subsequent move to Barcelona. But the report adds Lyon have not been put off re-signing their academy product once his Gunners deal expires, with the forward retaining close ties with his former club.”
