Liverpool pushing to sign Otavio
When Liverpool set their eyes on a player, more often than not, they force their way into getting him. This time they have set their sights on Otavio, and the club are working hard to cut a deal with Porto for the attacking midfielder.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Liverpool are pushing to sign Porto attacking midfielder Otavio.
The Brazil international joined Porto from Internacional for a fee in the region of 2.5 million euros in September 2014. His contract expires in the summer of 2025.
The midfielder has banged in 5 goals and provided 12 assists in 42 matches last term on all fronts.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Brazil. He has represented Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 level, winning five caps and scoring one goal.
His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Liverpool.
Jurgen Klopp wants to sign a new attacking midfielder and Otavio is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The Liverpool manager has been impressed by his performances this season and could make a move this summer.
The Reds are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Otavio has the talent to play many roles in attack.
According to the report, “Porto are preparing to sell Otavio – with Liverpool keen. The Reds have been linked with the Brazilian playmaker in recent days, who has been tipped to be a possible replacement for Gini Wijnaldum. A Bola says Otavio will leave Porto “imminently” with Liverpool likely to be his destination. Liverpool have “advanced forcefully” to bring Otavio to Anfield, with manager Jurgen Klopp playing a big role in trying to land the 26-year-old. Otavio’s current deal has a €40m release clause which expires on Wednesday, which then goes up to €60m, and the report expects a deal to be completed within the next couple of days.”
