Liverpool join Manchester City in race for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski
Liverpool are reportedly one of many clubs keeping tabs on Poland international.
The reports in England suggested that Liverpool have joined Manchester City in race for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski.
The Poland international joined Napoli from Udinese for a fee in the region of 14 million euros in August 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2021.
Zielinski made 97 appearances across all competitions for Napoli, scoring 15 goals and supplying 10 assists in return.
He is 24-year-old and has his peak years ahead.
Piotr Zielinski has also scored six goals in 37 games for his country.
Jurgen Klopp wants to sign a new midfielder and Piotr Zielinski is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this winter.
According to Express, “Manchester City and Liverpool are reportedly both prepared to battle it out for Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski’s services. Zielinski only recently signed a new long-term deal with the Serie A outfit that has a £107million release clause inserted into his contract. Napoli are desperate to keep hold of their main stars with Dries Mertens and Kalidou Koulibaly also in line for big pay rises. Despite the new deal for Zielinski, Italian outlet Calciomercato claim Liverpool and City are hopeful they can claw the Polish midfielder away from Napoli. It is said Real Madrid are also eyeing a move for the player, who has previously been compared to Juventus legend Pavel Nedved.”

Napoli are reluctant to let Piotr Zielinski go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
