Liverpool frontrunners to land Rennes forward Jeremy Doku

As per British media, Liverpool are frontrunners to land Rennes forward Jeremy Doku.

The 19-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The Belgium international was signed by Rennes in October 2020 from Anderlecht for a fee of 26 million euros. The 19-year-old has a contract until 2025 with the club.

The forward has featured in 4 matches for Rennes this term in all competitions.

Doku has represented Belgium at Under-15, Under-16, Under-17 and Under-21 level, winning 35 caps and scoring 12 goals, before making his senior international debut in September 2020. As a member of Belgium national football team, Doku won 10 caps and he scored 2 goals.

Jürgen Klopp wants to sign a new forward and Doku is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.

Jeremy Doku is a long-term target of Liverpool and could be a decent addition for Jürgen Klopp’s side.

The Reds are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.

The 19-year-old can play multiple positions in attack.

According to the report, “Liverpool are leading the interest for Rennes attacker Jeremy Doku. RTL’s Alexandre Braeckman is reporting the Reds are at the front of the queue to sign the talented 19-year-old in the future. Braeckman believes that a deal involving Doku moving to Anfield could be on the cards in 2022. “Doku is in Rennes and could go away this summer (Liverpool best placed at this stage),” Braeckman wrote on Twitter. Liverpool were linked with a move for Doku throughout the most recent transfer window, and was close to joining the Reds back in 2017 as a 15-year-old.”
