Leicester City will look to sign Domenico Berardi

As the winter transfer window comes closer and closer Leicester are being linked with more and more potential transfers.

If a report from Tribal Football is to be believed, Leicester City will look to sign Sassuolo forward Domenico Berardi.

The 27-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

Sassuolo spent 10 million euros to sign the Italy international from Juventus in the summer of 2015. The 27-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.

The forward banged in 7 goals and provided 6 assists in 14 matches this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.

The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best forwards in Italy. Berardi has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 6 goals in 23 senior appearances for the Italy national team.

His performances have seen him become the target of many European clubs including Leicester.

By the club’s own admission, Sassuolo forward is Leicester’s number one transfer target.

Brendan Rodgers is a long term admirer of Berardi and believes he can get the most out of the Italy international.

The Foxes are desperate to make an impact in the winter transfer window.

There is no doubt that Berardi will take Leicester’s attack to a different level. His arrival would give Leicester some much needed tactical flexibility.

According to the report, “Leicester City are eyeing Sassuolo attacker Domenico Berardi. The Leicester Mercury says with City on the lookout for a wideman during the summer months, reports have emerged that Berardi was one of the players the club were looking at. It was said that the Italian international, who impressed at Euro 2020, would cost a fee in the region of £35 million. However, a summer move never materialised with City completing a deadline day loan deal for Red Bull Leipzig winger Ademola Lookman. But Sassuolo are now ready to sell Berardi during the January window, with the player looking to move on from the club. TMW also states that the Serie A side will be looking for a fee of around €25-30 million (£21-25.5 million) for the winger, a reduction of over £10 million from the reported asking price in the summer.

If Leicester can agree on a fee with Sassuolo, the deal should be easy to complete.

The Italian club are preparing to sell their forward should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Leicester City?

The Premier League side need to add more depth to their attack and the 27-year-old would be a good signing.

Domenico Berardi has all the skillset required to be a success story at Leicester City. Therefore, it makes sense for Rodgers to step up his attempts to bring the Italy forward to Premier League side.

If Brendan Rodgers sees him as the right man for his side, Leicester City should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
