Leicester City tracking Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media (Football Italia), Leicester City are tracking Lazio defender Wesley Hoedt.
The Netherlands international was signed by Lazio in July 2015 from AZ Alkmaar on a free transfer. The 23-year-old has a valid contract with Lazio until June 2019.
Wesley Hoedt has played 61 times for Lazio since signing from AZ Alkmaar, scoring four goals and creating one assist in that time.
The Netherlands international has been in fine form this season.
The 23-year-old is considered to be one of the best defenders in Netherlands.
Wesley Hoedt has represented Netherlands at Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 10 caps, before making his senior international debut in March 2017. As a member of Netherlands national football team, Wesley Hoedt has won two caps.
Leicester City have always been a team which keep their eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.
Wesley Hoedt has been long term target of Craig Shakespeare as the manager looks to bolster his defensive options for the next season.
Euro Football Rumours understood that Leicester City had a 10.5 million euros bid rejected by Lazio in the winter transfer window but at this moment Italian giants could change their mind if Stefan de Vrij signs a new deal this summer.
How strong that interest is and whether Leicester City will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
