Leicester City edge closer to signing Sassuolo striker Gregoire Defrel
Leicester City are looking set to land Gregoire Defrel after French Media (Mercato365) revealed that they are in advanced negotiations with Sassuolo ahead of a potential move.
The France international has joined Sassuolo from Cesena for a fee in the region of 7 million euros in August 2015. The 26-year-old has a valid contract with Sassuolo until June 2020.
The 26-year-old has played 74 times for Sassuolo since signing from Cesena, scoring 23 goals and creating 11 assists in that time.
The France international has been in impressive form for Sassuolo this season, scoring 16 goals.
Gregoire Defrel has been long term target of Craig Shakespeare as the manager look to bolster his attacking options for the next season.
Craig Shakespeare will reportedly be handed a huge transfer kitty this summer and the Sassuolo striker is thought to be among the manager’s priorities.
Leicester City are in the market for just a handful of statement signings this summer who can improve the first-team.
The striker can also play as a right wing, offering Craig Shakespeare a different option should he change his formation at Leicester City.
According to the report in French Media, the France international striker is close to joining Leicester City for a fee in the region of 17-18 million euros plus bonuses.
Having signed Gregoire Defrel for 7 million euros in the summer of 2015, to make a 10-11 million euros profit on the 26-year-old who, without question, will be fantastic for Sassuolo is a good deal all round.
