Inter Milan leading the race for Barcelona star Ivan Rakitic
Inter Milan are reportedly one of many clubs keeping tabs on Croatia international Ivan Rakitic.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Inter Milan are leading the race for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
Barcelona spent 18 million euros to sign the Croatia international from Sevilla in the summer of 2014.
Ivan Rakitic has played 268 times for Barcelona since signing from Sevilla, scoring 34 goals and creating 37 assists in that time.
The 31-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Croatia.
His record for Croatia is also impressive. Rakitic has scored 15 goals in 104 matches for Croatia at senior level.
The Croatia international is believed to be available for transfer, with Antonio Conte now keen to bring him to Inter Milan. Conte is a long term admirer of Rakitic and believes he can get the most out of the Croatia international.
There is no doubt that Ivan Rakitic will take Inter’s midfield to a different level.
According to Football Espana (via Diario Sport), “Ivan Rakitic is resigned to the possibility of leaving Barcelona this summer with Inter the most interested club. The Croatian international’s current deal at the Camp Nou runs through until the summer of 2021 although Barca brought midfielders Arturo Vidal and Arthur Melo last summer and have signed Frenkie De Jong from Ajax this year. The midfielder has continually been linked with a move away from the Blaugrana with the fresh report claiming that new Inter boss Antonio Conte has requested the signing of the midfielder.”

Barcelona are reluctant to let Rakitic go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
Signing the 31-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Conte.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Inter Milan.
How strong that interest is and whether Inter will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
