Inter Milan considering a move for Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch

Inter Milan need to strengthen their midfield this winter.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Inter Milan are considering a move for Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch.

The Austria international joined Hoffenheim from Werder Bremen on a free transfer in July 2017.

Grillitsch is incredibly experienced for a 24-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

As a member of Austria national football team, Grillitsch won 14 caps and he scored one goal.

His impressive performances this season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.

The report details that Antonio Conte feels his midfield currently lacks some bite and that he could strengthen this winter. Conte will reportedly be handed a huge transfer kitty and the Hoffenheim midfielder is thought to be among the manager’s priorities.

Grillitsch would provide a good variety to Inter Milan’s midfield.

According to Calciomercato, “Inter are interested in signing Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch as a backup for core midfielder Marcelo Brozovic. Grillitsch, who is contracted to the German side until 2022, has been an important player so far this season for Hoffenheim, helping them stay within five points of league leaders Borussia Monchengladbach and win five games in a row. He has made 11 appearances for the club this season, scoring a goal and providing two assists in the process. The Nerazzurri are keen to sign the 24-year-old Austrian, who is valued at around €20 million, as they look to strengthen their squad and improve on their midfield depth. However, considering the player’s potential cost as well as his importance to the German club, a summer move looks more likely than one in the upcoming January transfer window. He averages around 37 passes per game, with a success rate of 89%.”

Hoffenheim would be wise to keep the Austria international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Undoubtedly he would be a fantastic recruit for Inter Milan.
