Genoa set to sign Sinan Gumus

Genoa need to strengthen their attack this summer.

The reports in Italy suggested that Genoa are set to sign Galatasaray winger Sinan Gumus.

The Germany international joined Galatasaray from VfB Stuttgart II on a free transfer in July 2014. His contract expires in the summer of 2019.

Gumus made 110 appearances across all competitions for Galatasaray, scoring 32 goals and supplying 16 assists in return.

He’s incredibly experienced for a 25-year-old and still has tons of room for growth.

Sinan Gumus has represented Germany at Under-20 level, winning 3 caps and scoring one goal.

Cesare Prandelli wants to sign a new winger and Sinan Gumus is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

Sinan Gumus would provide a good variety to Genoa’s attack.

According to Football Italia, “Genoa are reportedly set to sign Galatasaray winger Sinan Gumus this summer. According to Gianluca Di Marzio’s website, Genoa’s deal for Gumus will be finalised ‘shortly’. The Grifone will not pay a transfer fee for the 25-year-old as he will become a free agent on June 30. He also briefly worked under Genoa boss Cesare Prandelli at the Istanbul club before his dismissal in October 2014. Gumus could replace fellow wideman Darko Lazovic, who is understood to have agreed terms over a Bosman move to Lazio.”

Signing the 25-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Cesare Prandelli.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Genoa.

How strong that interest is and whether Genoa will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
