Everton interested in Arsenal midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles

Now that the season is closing, it seems every day a new transfer rumour is created or re-created.

It’s claimed by British media that Everton are interested in Arsenal central midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

The 23-year-old has been subject to interest from various Premier League clubs.

In February 2021, Maitland-Niles was sent to WBA on loan. The central midfielder has featured in 12 matches for WBA this term in all competitions.

The 23-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in England.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has represented England at Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 38 caps and scoring 4 goals, before making his senior international debut in September 2020. As a member of England national football team, Maitland-Niles won 5 caps.

The England international is currently out of favor at Arsenal and could leave the club this summer.

The Toffees are looking to sign a central midfielder and have identified the 23-year-old as potential transfer target.

Carlo Ancelotti is a firm fan of Arsenal midfielder and Everton could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

Everton are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles can play multiple positions in defense and midfield. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.

According to the report, “Arsenal utility man Ainsley-Maitland Niles is attracting interest from Everton. The 23-year-old has enjoyed a relatively successful loan spell with West Brom, despite the club’s relegation from the Premier League. As Maitland-Niles is unlikely to get first team chances with Arsenal, he could move on in the summer. Southampton, Leeds, Manchester United and Everton are being linked with his signature, per the Daily Mail. Maitland-Niles, who has spent the second half of this season with the Baggies, can play as a central midfielder and a full back.”

If Everton are genuinely interested, a deal would not be impossible to complete.

The Gunners are preparing to sell their midfielder should they receive right offer for him.

Good signing for Everton?

It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.

A move away from Arsenal will not be only the best move for Maitland-Niles, but also for the club.

The Toffees must improve their midfield options and the signing of Maitland-Niles would be a step in the right direction.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles has all the skillset required to be a success story at Everton. Therefore, it makes sense for Ancelotti to step up his attempts to bring the central midfielder to Premier League side.

If Carlo Ancelotti sees him as the right man for his side, Everton should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
