Chelsea will look to sign Wolverhampton star Ruben Neves
As the winter transfer window comes closer and closer Chelsea are being linked with more and more potential transfers.
The latest reports in England suggest that Chelsea will look to sign Wolverhampton midfielder Ruben Neves.
Wolverhampton spent 17.9 million euros to sign the Portugal international from Porto in the summer of 2017. The 24-year-old has three years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
The midfielder has featured in 18 matches this term, netting one goal and providing one assist in all competitions.
The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Portugal. Neves has earned 26 senior caps for the Portugal national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
He has been in impressive form for Wolverhampton in the last few seasons and it looks like he caught the eye of many European clubs including Chelsea.
Thomas Tuchel wants to sign a new midfielder and Neves is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The Blues have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.
The Portugal international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of midfieder Tuchel wants to target in the winter transfer window.
The former Porto man will offer the Chelsea boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Chelsea are serious about securing Ruben Neves from Wolves in the January transfer window. The Blues are in poor form at present, dropping away from the Premier League title race. According to Fichajes, the poor form of loan star Saul from Atlético Madrid is also causing problems for manager Thomas Tuchel. The source suggests £38 million Neves from Wolves could be brought in by Tuchel to offer competition to the likes of Jorginho, N’Golo Kante, and Mateo Kovacic. Despite his indifferent form, Saul is unlikely to return to Atlético in January.”
