Chelsea will look to sign Inter Milan star Milan Skriniar
It is an open secret that Chelsea need to sign a centre-back.
It’s claimed by British media that Chelsea will look to sign Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar.
The Slovakia international joined Inter from Sampdoria for a fee in the region of 34 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.
The centre-back has featured in 48 matches last term, netting four goals.
The 27-year-old is considered to be the best centre-back in Slovakia. His record for Slovakia is impressive. Skriniar has scored three goals in 54 matches for Slovakia at senior level.
Thomas Tuchel is eager to add a centre-back to the squad. He wants an experienced player that can be a leader on and off the pitch for him. The Slovakia international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Tuchel wants to target in the summer transfer window.
The Blues are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Sampdoria man is often quick to scan the danger and is not shy of getting stuck in with some well-timed tackles to help secure possession back for his side. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Chelsea are revisiting their interest in Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar. The Blues have missed out on Jules Kounde after Barcelona agreed a deal with Sevilla. It was a huge blow for Thomas Tuchel, with the club tracking Kounde for months. They will now once again look at Skriniar, according to CBSSports. The Slovakian centre-back has a contract until next summer. PSG were also interested in the 27-year-old. But the French club have signed RB Leipzig enforcer Nodi Madueke instead.”
Euro Football Rumours
The Blues have to fork out a huge transfer fee if they are genuinely interested in the Slovakia international.
Inter are preparing to sell their centre-back should they receive a massive offer for him.
Good signing for Chelsea?
If Chelsea and Tuchel are seriously considering a centre-back, Skriniar could also prove to be a smart option.
A centre-back of Milan Skriniar’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Chelsea squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Tuchel’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his defensive department.
How strong that interest is and whether Chelsea will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
