Chelsea submit bid for Getafe fullback Marc Cucurella

Chelsea need to strengthen their defense this summer.

According to the football transfer rumours in British and Spanish media, Chelsea have submitted bid for Getafe fullback Marc Cucurella.

The 22-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The fullback has banged in one goal and provided six assists in 45 matches for Getafe this term on all fronts.

The 22-year-old has long been touted as one of Spain’s most promising young talents.

Cucurella has represented Spain at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 19 caps and scoring 4 goals.

The Spain international will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Getafe this term.

According to the report, “Chelsea have launched a bid for Getafe fullback Marc Cucurella. AS says Chelsea are offering €30m for the left-back. The preferred left-back target for Chelsea was Ben Chilwell, of Leicester City, but as the asking price was set at €90m, manager Frank Lampard has asked to try for Cucurella, a Spain Under-21 international. Cucurella played on loan from Barcelona this season at Getafe, with a mandatory purchase clause. The clause was €6m but Barça would keep 40 per cent of a future transfer. Getafe have since paid €10m for the purchase option. In exchange, Barça now reserves only 10 percent of a possible sale.”

Chelsea in particular need to sort out a fullback for the next season and the 22-year-old could be a solid signing for them.

Marc Cucurella is still quite young and he will only get better with experience. He would be a good long term investment for Chelsea.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Chelsea.
