The Barcelona’s defender Gerard Pique has emerged as a surprise target for the Premier League leaders in the winter transfer window.

According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish Media, Chelsea are leading the chase for Barcelona defender Gerard Pique.

Pique signed for Barcelona from Manchester United, with the Spanish giant paid in the region of 5 million euros buy-out clause in 2008.

The Spain international has scored four goals in 30 outings for Barcelona in all competitions this season.

In the last period Pique has a problems with the local fans and that is one of the reasons why he is prepared to leave Spain.

Gerard Pique has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal this month, but according to the Spanish Media, Chelsea are looking to lure the defender to Premier League in the January transfer window.
