Chelsea keen on Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke
It’s been a transfer window full of surprises, and Chelsea could be set to carry on this trend.
The reports in England suggested that Chelsea are set to loan Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke.
The Belgium international joined Crystal Palace from Liverpool for a fee in the region of 31.2 million euros in August 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2020.
Since his arrival from Liverpool, Benteke has scored 18 goals and provided five assists in 57 games for Crystal Palace, including one goal and three assists in 17 games in all competitions this season.
The 27-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Belgium.
His record for Belgium is also impressive. Christian Benteke has scored 12 goals in 33 matches for Belgium at senior level.
Adding a striker remains Chelsea’s top priority this winter and Antonio Conte will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming days.
The report claims that Chelsea manager has extensively scouted Christian Benteke and is considering a move for the striker.
According to the report, Chelsea are keen to take Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke on-loan. Antonio Conte is desperate to sign a target man with Premier League experience this month to help his side’s top-four push. Benteke is among the candidates identified by the Blues hierarchy. The Eagles, though, may be willing to let the Belgian leave on a permanent deal. Chelsea would prefer to make a loan signing as they expect Conte to leave the club in the summer.
