Chelsea eyeing move for Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian Media, Chelsea are eyeing move for Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri.
Emerson Palmieri has spent the 2015/2016 and first part of 2016/2017 season on loan with AS Roma after he moved permanently from Santos FC for a fee in the region of 2 million euros in January 2017. The 22 year-old has a valid contract with AS Roma until June 2021.
Since his arrival from Santos FC, Emerson Palmieri has scored two goals and provided one assist in 38 games for AS Roma, including one goal and provided one assist in 29 games in all competitions this season.
The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in Brazil.
Emerson Palmieri has represented Brazil at Under-17 level, winning 14 caps and scoring one goal.
The Brazil international is a player who has impressed many European Clubs in the last few seasons, and it is understood that Chelsea manager Antonio Conte would prefer playing him as a full-back.
Borussia Dortmund and Atletico Madrid are apparently trailing Chelsea in the pursuit of Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri.
How strong that interest is and whether Chelsea will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
