Chelsea enter talks with Robert Lewandowski
When Chelsea set their eyes on a player, more often than not, they force their way into getting him. This time they have set their sights on Robert Lewandowski, and the club are working hard to cut a deal with Bayern Munich for the striker.
The latest reports in England and Germany suggest that Chelsea have entered talks with Robert Lewandowski.
The Poland international joined Bayern from Borussia Dortmund on a free transfer in July 2014. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.
The striker banged in 47 goals and provided 9 assists in 39 matches this season across all fronts showcasing just how influential he has been in the final third.
The 32-year-old is considered to be the best strikers in Poland. His record for Poland is also impressive. Lewandowski has scored 66 goals in 118 matches for Poland at senior level.
By the club’s own admission, Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski is Chelsea’s number one transfer target.
Thomas Tuchel is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
The English giants are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The Poland international provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Tuchel’s side.
According to the report, “Chelsea have opened talks with Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. Sky Deutschland says Chelsea have already sounded out the Poland international about a summer move, with the striker believed to be considering his future at Bayern. Chelsea have notably struggled for goals this season with midfielder Jorginho their top scorer in the Premier League with seven, which have all come from the penalty spot. Although Lewandowski has been identified as one of Chelsea’s main options, their transfer chief Marina Granovskaia faces a huge battle to convince him to join with the striker understood to be favouring a move to Spain over the Premier League. Barcelona are interested in Lewandowski but are in a difficult financial position at present, and may not have the funds available to sign him this summer. Lewandowski is also on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar, with Mauricio Pochettino making contingency plans in case Kylian Mbappe leaves.”
