Chelsea enter talks with Ousmane Dembele

Chelsea are reportedly keeping a close eye on many forwards across the Europe.

The reports in England suggested that Chelsea have entered talks with Ousmane Dembele.

The France international joined Barcelona from Borussia Dortmund for a fee in the region of 140 million euros in August 2017. He has a valid contract until June 2022.

The forward has featured in 11 matches this term, netting one goal and providing two assists in all competitions.

Dembele has also left his mark at the international stage after netting four goals in 27 senior appearances for the France national team.

The forward’s contract at Barcelona is about to expire and a number of clubs are said to be monitoring his situation, with Chelsea showing the most concrete interest in an attempt to lure the player to their team.

Ousmane Dembele is widely regarded as a key transfer target for Chelsea this summer.

Thomas Tuchel is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

The former Borussia Dortmund man will offer the Chelsea boss the freedom to be more flexible with his formations, tactics and team selections.

According to the report, “Chelsea are in pre-contract talks with Barcelona rebel Ousmane Dembele. The Athletic reports Chelsea are in talks with Dembele over a free transfer summer switch. The 24-year-old French star left Borussia Dortmund for Barcelona back in 2017 but he has failed to sparkle at the Nou Camp. The attacker’s contract with the LaLiga giants expires in June and he looks unlikely to be staying put under Xavi. Reports emerged that Chelsea were in discussions with Dembele as hopes mounted over a potential transfer deadline day swoop. But the talks Chelsea held with his representative have been geared more towards the possibility of a free transfer in the summer instead. The winger was told by the Catalans to sign a new contract or look for another club. The 2018 World Cup winner chose the latter option having failed to agree terms on a new deal.”
