Chelsea: Club interested in centre-back Presnel Kimpembe
There has been numerous centre-backs linked with Chelsea in past few months.
The latest reports in England suggest that Chelsea are interested in Paris Saint-Germain centre-back Presnel Kimpembe.
Kimpembe has two years left on his current contract which expires in 2024.
The centre-back finished the 2021/22 season with a tally of one goal and two assists from 41 matches across all competitions.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in France. Kimpembe has earned 28 senior caps for the France national team but is yet to open his goal-scoring account for his nation.
His impressive performances last season have apparently caught the eye of some of Europe’s big clubs.
Thomas Tuchel is eager to add a centre-back to the squad. He wants an experienced player that can be a leader on and off the pitch for him. The Chelsea manager has been impressed by his performances last season and could make a move this summer.
Chelsea are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The 26-year-old has been a good servant for Paris Saint-Germain, and is a centre-back who places himself in the right positions in defensive situations.
According to the report, “PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe remains a target for Chelsea. The 26-year-old came through the academy ranks at PSG and has gone on to make over 200 first-team appearances. However, Goal suggests that the France international could leave the club for a move to west London. Thomas Tuchel is desperately trying to bolster his defensive stocks after losing Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger to free agency. Kalidou Koulibaly, Jules Kounde and Matthijs de Ligt have also been linked with Chelsea.”
Euro Football Rumours
The Blues will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Kimpembe to join the club.
If Chelsea can agree on a fee with PSG, the deal should be easy to complete.

Presnel Kimpembe stands as an excellent option for Chelsea. He has all the skillset required to be a success story at Chelsea. Therefore, it makes sense for Tuchel to step up his attempts to bring the France centre-back to Premier League side.
Chelsea fans would certainly love to see him arrive at the club.
If Tuchel sees him as the right man for his side, Chelsea should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
