Burnley pushing to sign Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny
Burnley could solve their issues at right-back this winter as they eye up a move for Jonjoe Kenny.
The reports in England suggested that Burnley are pushing to sign Everton right-back Jonjoe Kenny.
The 23-year-old’s contract at Everton is set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.
Kenny has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in England. He has represented England at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18, Under-19, Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning 56 caps and scoring 2 goals.
The Everton manager does not see him in his plans and would be open to letting him leave.
Sean Dyche wants to sign a new right-back and Kenny is one of the names at the top of his wishlist.
The England international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Dyche wants to target in the winter transfer window.
Burnley are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
Jonjoe Kenny would provide a good variety to Burnley’s defense.
According to the report,” Burnley are eyeing Everton fullback Jonjoe Kenny. The Daily Mail says Burnley have asked about Kenny. The 23-year-old was outstanding on loan at Schalke in the Bundesliga but has struggled to convince Carlo Ancelotti at Everton. He is keen to play more regularly and Burnley are among the clubs to have shown an initial interest. Kenny has made just seven appearances this season, but Burnley manager Sean Dyche is keen to make him one of the first signings under the new ownership of Alan Pace and talks are at a very early stage. Dyche had asked for England U21 international Kenny last year but the Turf Moor club were unable to convince Everton to sell.”
