Bayern Munich target Andreas Christensen

It’s no secret that Bayern are interested in Andreas Christensen. But who isn’t?

The latest reports in Germany suggest that Bayern Munich are targeting Chelsea centre-back Andreas Christensen.

The 25-year-old’s contract is set to expire at the end of the 2021/22 campaign.

The centre-back has featured in 21 matches this term, netting two goals and providing one assist in all competitions.

He is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Denmark. His record for Denmark is also impressive. Christensen has scored one goal in 54 matches for Denmark at senior level.

Given that his contract is expiring soon and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.

Julian Nagelsmann wants to sign a new centre-back and Christensen is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. The report claims that Bayern manager has extensively scouted Christensen and is considering a move for the centre-back.

The former Brøndby IF man heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third.

According to the report, “Bayern Munich are circling around Chelsea’s Andreas Christensen. The Danish centre-half is out of contract in the summer, and is not renewing with the Blues. Bayern are facing a similar situation with their centre-back Niklas Sule. The 26-year-old rejected a contract offer and is leaving in the summer on a free, per Goal.com. Bayern are likely to turn to Christensen as a replacement. German outlet Sport1 goes on to claim that Chelsea may even sign Sule, while Newcastle are also interested in his services. Barcelona have also been linked with Christensen.”

The German giants will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Christensen to join the club.

Good signing for Bayern Munich?

Undoubtedly, he would be a fantastic recruit for Bayern.

Andreas Christensen has all the skillset required to be a success story at Bayern. Therefore, it makes sense for Nagelsmann to step up his attempts to bring the Denmark centre-back to Bundesliga side.

The 25-year-old could be a good fit for Nagelsmann’s Bayern.

How strong that interest is and whether Bayern will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
