Barcelona poised to land Alvaro Morata
The Spanish giants appear to have a genuine interest in signing Juventus player this winter.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Barcelona are poised to land Juventus star Alvaro Morata.
The 29-year-old joined Juventus from Atlético Madrid on a two-year loan in 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.
This season, Morata has scored 8 goals and provided 5 assists in 29 appearances for Juventus.
He is considered to be one of the best strikers in Spain. His record for Spain is also impressive. Morata has scored 23 goals in 50 matches for Spain at senior level.
The Spain international is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Juventus this winter and the list of suitors in the Spain international continues to grow.
Xavi wants to sign a new striker and Morata is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a firm fan of Juventus striker and Barcelona could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
Barcelona are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Atlético Madrid man is a traditional number nine, having all types of finishes in his locker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Xavi’s side.
According to the report, “Barcelona have returned to talks to sign Juventus striker Alvaro Morata. Sport says Juventus will let him leave this month once they complete a deal for Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, but Atletico want a guarantee of a transfer in January, something Barça are not prepared to do. Barça want an 18-month loan and the player is keen to move to Camp Nou, but it doesn’t suit Atletico, with Morata’s deal at the Wanda up in 2023. All parties continue to speak as Barça look for ways to make room within their spending limit for the season to be able to register new signings. The main hurdle is still that: Barça’s financial situation. The Blaugrana can’s register anyone until they move on players or find a solution to the Ousmane Dembele situation, either a renewal or a departure. Barça are also trying to reach an agreement with Atletico, who want a €30 million fee in the summer and will only accept a loan with an obligatory buy clause.”

If the Barcelona can tie up a cheap deal for the player, it may not be a bad signing by any means.
Alvaro Morata ideal fit for Barcelona?
If Barcelona and Xavi are seriously considering a striker, Morata could also prove to be a smart option.
A striker of Morata’s ceiling will be a massive addition to Barcelona squad as he will not only improve the overall quality of Xavi’s starting XI but also add some stability and variety to his attacking department.
How strong that interest is and whether Barcelona will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
