Barcelona target Maxi Gomez from Celta Vigo to boost their attacking options.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Barcelona are linked with fresh move for Maxi Gomez.
The 22-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Uruguay international was signed by Celta Vigo in July 2017 from Defensor Sporting for a fee of 4 million euros. The 22-year-old has a contract until 2022 with the club.
Gomez has played 64 times for Celta Vigo since signing from Defensor Sporting, scoring 27 goals and creating 10 assists in that time.
The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Uruguay.
As a member of Uruguay national football team, Gomez won 9 caps.
Ernesto Valverde has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.
Maxi Gomez has been long term target of Valverde as the manager look to bolster his attacking options for the next season.
According to Football Espana (via Diario Sport), “The crisis engulfing Celta Vigo is bringing striker Maxi Gomez closer to a summer move to Barcelona, reports Diario Sport. Celta have dropped into the relegation zone following a run of form which has seen them pick up just four points in their last 11 league matches. Gomez is said to have a €50m release clause at Estadio Balaidos but should his side be relegated, this clause is set to halve to just €25m, making him imminently more affordable. The Uruguayan striker netted 17 goals in La Liga last season in his first campaign in European football, leading to a series of top European clubs monitoring his progress.”
