Atletico Madrid are discussing a move to sign Alexandre Lacazette.

The reports in England suggested that Atletico Madrid are poised to land Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette.

The 28-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.

The France international joined Arsenal from Lyon for a fee in the region of 53 million euros in July 2017. His contract expires in the summer of 2022.

In 114 appearances for Arsenal, Lacazette has managed to score 45 goals, and create 21 goals for his teammates.

As a member of France national football team, Lacazette won 16 caps and he scored 3 goals.

Diego Simeone wants to sign a new striker and Alexandre Lacazette is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long term admirer of Lacazette and believes he can get the most out of the France international.

Atletico Madrid are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.

Alexandre Lacazette can play multiple positions in attack.

According to the report, “Atletico Madrid are being linked with Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette. France’s Soccer Link reports Atletico sporting director Andrea Berta personally spoke with Lacazette to try and tempt the Arsenal forward into a summer switch. After talking to Berta, the 28-year-old got in touch with ex-Atletico star Antoine Griezmann, now of Barcelona, to talk through the possible switch. The pair are good friends through their time with France’s various national teams. Lacazette is reportedly confident of the transfer going through at the end of the season, despite being happy at the Emirates Stadium.”

It would take a huge offer from Atletico to prise the 28-year-old striker from Arsenal.

Signing the 28-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Diego Simeone.

How strong that interest is and whether Atletico will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
