Atletico Madrid interested in Felipe
The highly rated Brazil international Felipe is attracting interest from several top European clubs and Atletico Madrid scouts are also regularly watching him.
The Brazil international was signed by Porto in July 2016 from Corinthians for a fee of 6.2 million euros. The 29-year-old has a contract until 2021 with the club.
As a member of Brazil national football team, Felipe won one cap.
Diego Simeone wants to sign a new defender and Felipe is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long term admirer of Felipe and believes he can get the most out of the Brazil international.
Felipe would provide a good variety to Atletico Madrid’s defense.
According to Football Espana (via Marca), “Atletico Madrid are ‘one step away’ from completing the signing of FC Porto defender Felipe. The 29-year-old has subsequently earned international recognition with Brazil and has become one of the mainstays in the defense of Porto. Felipe has been trusted by successive managers Nuno Espirito Santo and Sergio Conceicao and the report claims he is now one of the most sought-after defenders in European football. Real Madrid were also strongly linked to the Brazilian in the past but it is said that his €50m release clause was sufficient to derail their interest at the time.”

It would take a huge offer from Atletico Madrid to prise the 29-year-old defender from Porto.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Atletico Madrid.
How strong that interest is and whether Atletico Madrid will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
