Aston Villa set to sign Pedro
The attacking department of the Aston Villa squad needs quality additions this winter.
According to the football transfer rumours in Spanish media, Aston Villa are set to sign Chelsea winger Pedro.
The 32-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Spain international joined Chelsea from Barcelona for a fee in the region of 27 million euros in August 2015. His contract expires in the summer of 2020.
This season, Pedro has scored one goal and provided one assist in 9 appearances for Chelsea.
Given that his contract is expiring soon and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.
Dean Smith wants to sign a new winger and Pedro is one of the names at the top of his wishlist. He is a long term admirer of Pedro and believes he can get the most out of the Spain international.
Pedro would provide a good variety to Aston Villa’s attack.
According to Football Espana, “Aston Villa are interested in a deal to sign out-of-favour Chelsea winger Pedro in January, report the Daily Telegraph. A report last month in El Dorsal said that the 32-year-old forward looks set to leave Stamford Bridge – where his contract expires next year – in the near future and Turkish giants Fenerbahce were interested. The former Spain international moved to West London in the summer of 2015 from Barcelona and has won a Premier League title at the club, alongside successes in the League Cup, FA Cup and Europa League. The Canary Islands-based outlet also claims that China is a possible destination for the versatile forward, who may yet to decide to stay in Europe. The Tenerife-born forward has been a fringe figure this campaign for Frank Lampard’s side but the boss is showing signs of giving more youth players a chance in the first-team.”
