According to multiple reports emanating from England, Aston Villa are linked with a move for Arsenal defensive midfielder Mohamed Elneny.

The Egypt international joined Arsenal from Basel for a fee in the region of 12.5 million euros in January 2016. His contract expires in the summer of 2023.

The midfielder has featured in only seven matches for Arsenal this term in all competitions.

He is considered to be one of the best midfielders in Egypt. His record for Egypt is impressive. Elneny has scored 8 goals in 91 matches for Egypt at senior level.

The Arsenal manager does not see him in his plans and would be open to letting him leave.

Aston Villa are delving into the transfer market for an experienced defensive midfielder and have done well to identify the 30-year-old as a potential target.
