AS Roma considering a move for Victor Lindelof
Victor Lindelof’s time at Manchester United could soon end as a whole host of clubs are lining up to sign him.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Roma are considering a move for Manchester United centre-back Victor Lindelof.
The 28-year-old has been subject to interest from various European clubs.
The Sweden international has been with United since 2017, having signed for the club from Benfica for 35 million euros. His current deal expires in 2024.
In 34 appearances last season, Lindelof has contributed with two assists.
The 28-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Sweden. Lindelof has also left his mark at the international stage after netting three goals in 52 senior appearances for the Sweden national team.
His deal runs out next summer and so far there are no signs that Manchester United will be offering him a new deal.
Jose Mourinho is eager to add a centre-back to the squad. He wants an experienced player that can be a leader on and off the pitch for him. Mourinho is a firm fan of Manchester United centre-back and Roma could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Serie A giants are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former Benfica man heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Jose Mourinho’s Roma are considering a move for Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof. According to Forza Roma (via Sport Witness), the Serie A side have discussed a deal with the Red Devils for the Swedish centre-back. Having missed out on another of his former players, Eric Bailly, Mourinho is keen to bring Lindelof to the Italian capital – and United are looking to offload defenders. The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford following the arrival of Lisandro Martinez.”
Euro Football Rumours
If Roma can agree on a fee with United, the deal should be easy to complete.
It is claimed that Manchester United are open to letting Lindelof go.
Good signing for Roma?
If Victor Lindelof is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Roma.
Lindelof has all the skillset required to be a success story at Roma. Therefore, it makes sense for Mourinho to step up his attempts to bring the Swedish centre-back to Serie A side.
A move away from Manchester United will not be only the best move for Lindelof, but also for the club.
If Jose Mourinho sees him as the right man for his side, Roma should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
