Arsenal targeting Brazilian star Malcom from Zenit St Petersburg
The Gunners are on the lookout for a new winger, and the latest player linked to the club is Brazilian international Malcom. The former Barcelona player is currently playing for Zenit St Petersburg, where he recently signed a contract extension until 2027.
Malcom has been in good form this season, and on 29th April 2023, he scored four goals in a match for the first time in his career, helping Zenit to achieve a 1-5 away victory against Krylya Sovetov. He has also had some notable performances in the past, such as when he scored the winning goal in the 2021 Olympics Final against Spain after extra time.
Journalist Pedro Almeida is reporting that Arsenal are preparing to make a summer move for the winger. However, former Russia international striker Ruslan Pimenov is not too keen on the idea of Malcom moving to London and would prefer to see him choose another competition.
Euro Football Rumours
Malcom is one of the big stars of the Russian Premier League, and his skills on the pitch have caught the attention of many top clubs across Europe. With his contract extension, Zenit will not be willing to let him go for a low fee, and Arsenal will have to dig deep if they want to secure his services.
Overall, it remains to be seen whether Malcom will make a move to Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window. However, the Gunners’ interest in the Brazilian star shows their intent to strengthen their squad and compete for titles in the future. If they are successful in signing Malcom, he could prove to be a valuable addition to the team and provide the creativity and attacking threat that they need to succeed.
