Arsenal show interest in Atletico striker Alvaro Morata
The attacking department of the Arsenal squad needs quality additions this summer.
According to the football transfer rumours in Italian media, Arsenal are showing interest in Atletico Madrid star Alvaro Morata.
The Spain international joined Atletico from Chelsea for a fee in the region of 35 million euros in July 2020. His contract expires in the summer of 2022. In September 2020, Morata was sent to Juventus on a two-seasons-long loan.
The striker has banged in 8 goals and provided 6 assists in 33 matches this term on all fronts.
The 29-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Spain. As a member of Spain national football team, Morata won 50 caps and he scored 23 goals.
He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Atletico this summer and the list of suitors in the Spain international continues to grow.
Adding a striker remains Arsenal’s top priority this summer and Mikel Arteta will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming months.
Arteta is a firm fan of Atletico’s striker and Arsenal could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Gunners are desperate to make an impact in the summer transfer window.
The former Chelsea man provides a unique blend between a classic center-forward and the modern striker. His finishing abilities when in and around the box will come as a massive asset to Arteta’s side.
According to the report, “Arsenal are showing interest in Atletico Madrid star Alvaro Morata. The Spanish striker is on loan at Italian giants Juventus this term. While Morata has not been prolific for Juve, he has linked up well with recent signing Dusan Vlahović. According to Tuttomercato, Arsenal will rival Juve if the Serie A side attempts to secure Morata permanently. The Gunners will be without Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah this summer, as both are out of contract when the season concludes.”

The Gunners will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Morata to join the club.
Atletico Madrid are preparing to sell their striker should they receive right offer for him.
Good signing for Arsenal?
If Morata is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Arsenal.
All in all, Alvaro Morata will be an ideal choice for Mikel Arteta as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his attackers.
It will be interesting to see what happens when Arsenal come calling for Morata this summer.
