Arsenal hoping to sign Spain U19 international: A good option for Mikel Arteta?
It’s no secret that Arsenal are interested in Real Valladolid’s right-back Ivan Fresneda. But who isn’t?
According to multiple reports emanating from England, Arsenal are hoping to sign Ivan Fresneda.
The Spain international joined Real Valladolid from Leganés on a free transfer in July 2020. He is under contract at Valladolid until the summer of 2025.
The right-back has made 11 appearances for Real Valladolid but is yet to score or register an assist for them this season across all fronts.
He has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in Spain. Fresneda has represented Spain at Under-18 and Under-19 level, winning six caps.
Ivan Fresneda has been in impressive form for Real Valladolid this season and it looks like he caught the eye of many European clubs including Arsenal.
The Gunners have earmarked Real Valladolid right-back as their target, with Mikel Arteta being a ‘huge admirer’ of the player. Arteta has kept an eye on Fresneda for the last 12 months and he is impressed with the right-back’s performances.
The former Leganés man is comfortable playing out from the back and given Arteta’s demands, that would fit in perfectly with his tactics.
According to the report, “Real Valladolid fullback Ivan Fresneda is on Arsenal’s radar. The Telegraph says Arsenal will rival Newcastle for right-back Fresneda. The Valladolid youngster has been hailed for his maturity by boss Pacheta, and could find himself on the move either this month or over the summer. Arsenal allowed Hector Bellerin to leave for Barcelona over the summer, and another right-back – Cedric Soares – has been linked with a move to Fulham.”

La Liga club are reluctant to let Fresneda go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.
The Gunners are showing interest in signing right-back, but will have to dig deep to land him.
Good signing for Arsenal?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value. Ivan Fresneda is still quite young and he will only get better with experience. He would be a good long term investment for Arsenal.
If Arteta sees him as the right man for his side, Arsenal should quickly make a move to fend off interest from other clubs.
