Antonee Robinson wanted by West Ham
West Ham need to strengthen their defense this summer.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, West Ham are set to sign Wigan Athletic left-back Antonee Robinson.
The USA international only joined Wigan from Everton in 2019 for 2.2 million euros and his contract runs to June 2022.
The left-back has featured in 38 matches for Wigan this term, netting one goal and providing one assist in all competitions.
The 22-year-old is considered to be one of the best left-backs in USA.
The Wigan Athletic left-back has represented USA at various youth levels before going on to secure 7 senior caps for his country thus far.
Robinson will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Wigan this term.
By the club’s own admission, Wigan left-back Antonee Robinson is West Ham’s transfer target.
David Moyes is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.
The left-back can also play as a full-back, offering David Moyes a different option should he change his formation at West Ham.
According to the report, “West Ham boss David Moyes is eyeing Wigan Athletic fullback Antonee Robinson. The Daily Mail says Moyes was at The Valley with assistant Alan Irvine to see 22-year old Robinson impress in his side’s 2-2 draw against Charlton. Robinson saw a £10m move to AC Milan fall through in January due to a heart complaint but has returned to Wigan’s first team since the lockdown and has attracted attention from a number of clubs including West Bromwich Albion and Leicester City. Moyes wants two full-backs among other positions but has still to be told his budget for the summer. Crisis club Wigan have already agreed to sell teenagers Jensen Weir to Brighton and Alfie Devine to Tottenham to cover players’ wages for this month.”

A club with West Ham’s resources should be able to afford him easily.
Good signing for West Ham?
It is smart from the club to invest in younger players, rather than splashing out big money on experienced players with no resale value.
Although he may not be an immediate improvement to the squad, he could be a valuable signing for the future if he continues to progress at this rate.
The 22-year-old could be a good fit for David Moyes’ West Ham.
How strong that interest is and whether West Ham will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
