Ajax looking to loan Manchester United right-back Ethan Laird
Ajax are known for going under the radar and signing some hidden gems in the transfer window.
The latest reports in England suggest that Ajax are looking to loan Manchester United right-back Ethan Laird.
The 20-year-old’s contract at United is set to expire at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.
He has featured in 27 matches for Swansea City and AFC Bournemouth last term, providing four assists in all competitions.
The 20-year-old has been touted as one of the brightest young prospects in England.
Laird has represented England at Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level, winning 13 caps and scoring 3 goals.
He is one of the more likely players to be offloaded by Manchester United this summer and the list of suitors in the England international continues to grow.
The Dutch giants are looking to sign a right-back and have identified the 20-year-old as potential transfer target.
Alfred Schreuder has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.
The England international is thought to perfectly fit the profile of defensive player Schreuder wants to target in the summer transfer window.
The 20-year-old can also play as a full-back, offering Schreuder a different option should he change his formation at Ajax.
According to the report, “Ajax are eyeing Manchester United fullback Ethan Laird. The defender is expected to be released for loan again this season and Dutch media sources say Ajax have expressed interest. Laird spent last season on-loan with Swansea City and Bournemouth. The fullback is currently with United’s overseas tour squad.”

Ajax will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Laird to join the club.
It is claimed that United are open to letting Laird go on loan.
Good signing for Ajax?
Ethan Laird will be an ideal choice for Alfred Schreuder as he ticks all the right boxes in terms of what he demands from his defenders.
Laird could offer a smart solution if Ajax can manage to get him on loan. If the deal works out and the 20-year-old plays well, a permanent deal could be pursued and if he fails to perform, Laird can return to Manchester United.
How strong that interest is and whether Ajax will make a move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
