Luuk de Jong is getting closer to Ajax day by day as transfer talk continues to intensify.
According to the football transfer rumours in British media, Ajax are interested in Sevilla striker Luuk de Jong.
The Netherlands international joined Sevilla from PSV for a fee in the region of 12.5 million euros in July 2019. In August 2021, de Jong was sent to Barcelona on a season-long loan.
In 9 appearances for Barcelona, he has managed to score one goal.
The 31-year-old is considered to be one of the best strikers in Netherlands. De Jong has also left his mark at the international stage after netting 8 goals in 38 senior appearances for the Netherlands national team.
By the club’s own admission, Luuk de Jong is Ajax’s transfer target. Erik ten Hag is a firm fan of Sevilla striker and Ajax could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.

According to the report, “Barcelona striker Luuk de Jong is being linked with a return home to Holland. De Jong is on-loan at Barca from Sevilla, but isn’t wanted by new coach Xavi. A return to Sevilla has been ruled out and instead a move to Ajax has been mooted, says La Razon. Ajax want cover for Sebastien Haller and would be open to overtaking Barca’s loan in January. Sevilla want €2m for the six-month deal and would insist on an obligatory permanent option worth €8m.”
