AC Milan poised to land Nathan Ake
The defensive department of the Milan squad needs quality additions this winter.
According to multiple reports emanating from Italy, Milan are poised to land Manchester City centre-half Nathan Ake.
Manchester City spent 45.3 million euros to sign the Netherlands international from AFC Bournemouth in the summer of 2020. The 26-year-old has four years left on his current contract which expires in 2025.
This season, Ake has scored two goals in 14 appearances for Manchester City.
The 26-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-halfs in Netherlands. Nathan Ake has also left his mark at the international stage after netting two goals in 23 senior appearances for the Netherlands national team.
It is evident that Manchester City manager does not see him as a key part of his plans.
Adding a centre-half remains Milan’s top priority this winter and Stefano Pioli will have drafted a shortlist of a number of possible targets he could approach in the coming days.
Pioli is a firm fan of Manchester City centre-half and Milan could make a move for the player if the financial aspect makes sense.
The Italian giants are in the market for just a handful of statement signings who can improve the first-team.
The former AFC Bournemouth man heavily relies on his ability to read the game. It is coupled with his sensible tackling and an excellent sense of positioning, allowing him to repel most of the danger in the defensive third. He has the quality and the experience to make an immediate impact.
According to the report, “Manchester City centre-half Nathan Ake is being linked to AC Milan. The Italian giants are on the look-out for a centre-back signing this winter. With Simon Kjaer out for the season, Italian reports suggest that Milan are turning their attention to Ake. The Dutchman is not first choice at City, even though he can fill in at both center back and left back.”
Euro Football Rumours
AC Milan will have to come up with the right proposal to convince Ake to join the club.
Manchester City would be wise to keep the Netherlands international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.
Good signing for AC Milan?
If Ake is available for the right price, then he could be a clever acquisition for Milan.
Nathan Ake has all the skillset required to be a success story at Milan. Therefore, it makes sense for Pioli to step up his attempts to bring the Netherlands centre-half to Serie A side.
Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Milan.
It will be interesting to see if Milan make their move for the 26-year-old in the coming days.
