Given that his contract is expiring in 18 months and he has not yet signed an extension, the rumors have only heated up in recent weeks.

Florentino Pérez is in the market for a new playmaker. He is a known admirer of the player and is reportedly keen on the idea of bringing him this summer.

Christian Eriksen would provide a good variety to Real Madrid’s attack.

According to The Sun, “Real Madrid are hopeful of luring Christian Eriksen to the Bernabeu for £100million after making initial contact with Tottenham. Eriksen is believed to be stalling on a new deal, despite the North Londoners willing to offer him wages up to £250,000-a-week. According to the Independent, Los Blancos representatives have already made initial steps to land the ex-Ajax ace, having met with Spurs chiefs. Should the midfielder fail to agree terms, Tottenham will demand a fee in excess of £100m this summer to avoid losing him on a free next year.”

Tottenham are reluctant to let Eriksen go, but a big enough bid could persuade them to sell.

Signing the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Pérez.

Stylistically, he would be a great fit in Madrid.
