Juventus monitoring Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter

Juventus target Matthias Ginter from Borussia Monchengladbach to boost their defensive options.

The reports in Italy suggested that Juventus are monitoring Borussia Monchengladbach centre-back Matthias Ginter.

Borussia Monchengladbach reportedly paid Borussia Dortmund 17 million euros for Ginter earlier this season. The 24-year-old has a valid contract with Borussia Monchengladbach until June 2021.

Ginter has played 30 times for Borussia Monchengladbach since signing from Borussia Dortmund, scoring five goals and creating two assists in that time.

The 24-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Germany.

Matthias Ginter has represented Germany at Under-18, Under-19 and Under-21 level, winning 29 caps and scoring two goals, before making his senior international debut in March 2014. As a member of Germany national football team, Matthias Ginter won 17 caps.

The Germany international will be high in demand this summer, with him having enjoyed a sublime season for Borussia Monchengladbach this term.

Juventus are in the market for a new centre-back when the transfer window reopens.

Massimiliano Allegri has always been a manager who keeps his eyes on the most talented young players across the globe.

Juventus have built a reputation for recruiting young talent from within Europe, predominantly targeting those with sell-on value and immense potential.

According to Calciomercato (via Corriere dello Sport), ” Juventus are interested in Matthias Ginter, according to the Corriere dello Sport. The Roman paper confirms that the Bianconeri sent scouts to watch the 24-year-old as Monchengladbach faced Hoffenheim in a spectacular 3-3 draw. The 24-year-old scored in that game, his fifth goal of the Bundesliga campaign, and is appreciated because he can play all over the defence, as well as in central midfield.”

Borussia Monchengladbach would be wise to keep the Germany international, but if they do let him go expect it to be for a hefty sum.

Signing the 24-year-old in the summer transfer window would be a masterstroke from Massimiliano Allegri.

If he turns out to be a key player like many expect, it could be one of the club’s smartest transfers.
