West Ham reported leading the chase for Hamburger centre-back Johan Djourou

West Ham United are leading the chase for Hamburger SV centre-back Johan Djourou, according to the football transfer rumours in German Media.

Johan Djourou has joined Hamburger SV from Arsenal for a fee in the region of 2.8 million euros in July 2014. The 30 year-old has a valid contract with Hamburger SV until the end of the season.

Since his arrival from Arsenal, Johan Djourou has scored two goals and provided two assists in 104 games for Hamburger SV, including only 16 games in all competition this season.

Johan Djourou has also represented Switzerland at Under-20 and Under-21 level, winning five caps across all age groups. Since March 2006, he is a member of Switzerland national football team, winning 66 caps and scoring two goals.

The 30-year-old is considered to be one of the best centre-backs in Switzerland.

Johan Djourou has been long term target of Slaven Bilic as the manager look to bolster his defensive options for the next season.

Euro Football Rumours understood that Johan Djourou is yet to sign a new contract with Hamburger SV and that he is considering move to West Ham United in the summer.

How strong that interest is and whether West Ham United will make a summer move remains to be seen but it is certainly one worth keeping an eye on.
